If you are new or experienced in aviation, you are at the right place. Novice, I try to explain in very easy words the reasons why several weird airplane designs were created. To my opinion, several weird designs have advantages when compared to conventional airplanes. Maybe not in all aspects, but some have better flight behavior in specific tasks. Who knows ... you might find here a solution to a problem you have with your conventional airplane. For the experienced persons I might have fun stuff too. From time to time I get remarks and notes from professionals. They guide me into this wonderful field of airplane-design. It might be that it is good advise for even a experienced person.
The site has several areas. Lets quickly overview them.
BULM: low budget airplanes for those who want to begin flying at a reasonable price. Remember: flying is not only a sport for the rich and famous.
Weird airplanes: a collection of pages where I try to explain the advantages and disadvantages of several configurations. I most cases I give a bit of history too. It is not my goal to give ALL airplanes in that configuration, but .. just enough to make you better understand the qualities and problems of it.
Specials: sometimes I stumble over data about a specific airplane which I like ... a lot. If I can find enough data about that airplane to make a special set of pages about it, I sure will give the effort to promote it. But ...let me be clear about one thing. I never received money for these pages! The pages are made as objective as possible. Purely commercial pages don't belong here. I made a few sub-sites in their own style if the subject gets large enough to earn this effort.
Few of my thoughts: being a bit of a creative guy I think up new ideas or combine old ones into a new one. Anyway, I placed several of my ideas here. I hate to say that I lack the knowledge to make the calculations to finish most of my ideas into prototypes. If you like one, feel free to test it yourself. But, pleeeeaaase, I beg you ...report me from time to time the progress on your findings. It might help me to work on this idea with you a bit more to get it into perfect shape.
FMS tutorials and models: I am a fan of FMS (Flying Model Simulator). Why? It is one of the easiest to use flight-sim and it is FREEWARE. If you cannot learn it with this one, flight-sims are not your thing. Metasequioa is a freeware 3D-creator software which you can use to create your own flight-sim-models. Not really easy if you are a failure in technical drawings, but real fun if you have a bit of insight in this matter. With the tutorials I hope to guide you in your first creation. Be sure ... I am still learning with each model I make.
Flying model plans for free: sometimes I get permission to use plans of paper models of some weird designs. It is fun to test them out yourself.
Theory / Say what?: those
were one of my first made set of pages. It is a attempt to help those who are
totally new in aviation-design. It gives a first view of several aspects which
are very vital in airplane-design. It might be that after reading it you are
able to design your first RC-model-design pretty soon. Who knows ... you might
have IT in you.
Many words about airplanes might be new if you are new to the aviation hobby. I
hope this dictionary will help.
Museum visits: when I have the time ...and money ... to visit some place (museum, firms, shows, ...) where I can see weird airplanes, I try to take pictures of them and share them here. I hope you like them.
Remarkable patents: I found out by accident that you can have access to the library of the patents. It can be a source of information, inspiration and ...laughter.
Sitemap: I got many remarks about my previous site, that it was a hell to find something in it. Euh ... have to admit that I got lost a few times myself. I hope that this tool will help you. I am not a HTML-wiz, so it does not work 100%. But ... I guess it is already a good guide to my stuff.
